We spoke with one of our former Reno brides who we asked what they want you to know for your upcoming wedding and this is what she had to give as advice. She had advice in all areas of wedding planning and we felt it was so informative we had to post a blog! So, this is what she thought, you, as a former bride should know!
- Don’t sweat the small stuff: The details that feel huge now might not matter later. Focus on the big picture — your ceremony, your partner, and your love story. The little things may go wrong, but they won’t ruin the day.
2.Plan ahead, but stay flexible: Wedding planning can be overwhelming, so try to get organized early. However, expect the unexpected. Flexibility is key when things don’t go exactly as planned. Elite Elegance had a great month by month checklist helped so much!
3.Hire a wedding planner (or coordinator): A professional can alleviate so much stress. If a full-time planner is out of your budget, consider a day-of coordinator to help things run smoothly. Having Elite Elegance there to help me with things I wouldn’t have even thought of and then making sure that the unknown on the day of was taken care of was so important and vital to making sure our day went off without a hitch.
Delegate, delegate, delegate: Don’t be afraid to let others help. Whether it’s family, friends, or vendors, trust those around you to pitch in. This allows you to focus on enjoying your special day.
4.Invest in good photography and videography: You’ll want to remember your day forever, so don’t skimp on capturing the moments. The memories are priceless, and a skilled photographer and videographer can tell your story beautifully. I couldn’t stress this enough. Your day is only once, and its such an important aspect having good photography and videography.
5.Take a moment for yourself: Weddings can be non-stop, but it’s important to carve out a little time for yourself. Whether it’s a quiet moment before the ceremony or a quick escape during the reception, a moment of calm will help you recharge. Ashley had built in an important piece into the timeline for me and my husband had a few moments to live in the moment, and I’m so thankful for it.
6.Don’t feel pressured by others’ opinions: One of the biggest points Elite Elegance stressed, was that this is OUR wedding. Not our family’s, not our bridal party. Ours. It’s easy to get caught up in what others want for your wedding. Trust your instincts and make decisions that reflect you and your partner’s unique style and preferences.
7.Consider comfort when choosing your attire: You’ll be wearing your dress, suit, or outfit for hours, so make sure it’s comfortable. From shoes to undergarments, comfort is key to enjoying your day without pain or frustration. Comfy shoes were everything on our day!
8.Plan for “me time” with your partner Make it a point to be together during the reception. Don’t let everyone pull you apart.
9.Eat and Drink throughout the day when you can!: Between photos, the ceremony, and mingling, it’s easy to forget to eat or drink. Keep some snacks on hand, and remember to stay hydrated so you feel your best throughout the day.
